Welcome!

Welcome to Nailed It! I am so excited to be starting this blog, I've been thinking about doing this for a while now, and have decided to jump right in! Why not, right?

I little about me: My name is Kara, I live in beautiful Oregon with my 2 beautiful daughters, as of now are 3 years old and 10 months old, whom I will call A & B (their initials, not rankings, haha).

If you had asked me 6 months ago if I wanted to do a nail blog, I would have thought you were crazy! 6 months ago I didn't even know anyone blogged about nails! Boy, was I wrong! I had 4 bottles of ancient nail polish that I only ever wore on my toes. I had small kids, I never wear nail polish while my kids were in the I-will-chew-on-your-fingers phase, so it wasn't until my youngest got out of that phase that I started painting my nails. I was going through a major life change, and lets be honest, I was stressed. Staying home all day by myself with 2 kids + life change = crazy mama! I discovered that painting my nails was my outlet. It was so zen, to hide in the bathroom at 11:00 at night, after I had finally gotten both kids to bed, and stroke paint onto my nails with a tiny brush. It became my time to relax, my time to unwind before I exhaustedly dragged myself to bed only to be woken up too soon to do it all over again. Another day of stress, another night of nail polish. I started doing my nails every night, and I could feel the strain the next day if I missed a night. I started buying more colors, the cheap stuff at first, but my nails soon began peeling and splitting.

My first GOOD polish I bought was China Glaze For Audrey. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this polish, though it has migrated to a favorite on toes rather than nails these days as my stash has grown.

My next obsession began soon after. I didn't want to waste my money on buying polishes I didn't love, so I started stalking nail polish on Pinterest. WOW! A whole new world of polish was opened before my eyes! This is where I discovered Konad and nail stamping, and many of my favorite brands and colors of polish.

There you have it, my nail polish journey in a nutshell, and here, today, starts a new chapter in this journey of nails: my blog!

I hope you enjoy this blog, I know I will enjoy writing it and sharing my manis, and my Facebook friends will enjoy not being forced to look at the pictures of them :)

So welcome, I am so happy to be here :)

  1. I wanted to say WELCOME to the nail blog world. I was reading your story and laughing the whole time as it sounded just..like..me! I used to be a manicurist many maaaany years ago and life got in the way, not making enough money. Then I had a job where I couldn't paint my nails. Well, I recently changed jobs and my kids are older now (17 & 10) so I mentioned to my husband one night that I wanted to start doing my nails again.....then for this past Mothers Day I received ALOT of nail polish from my boys and him, thus the obsession began. I am currently at well over 200 polishes and I do my nails every coupe days. I can't just do a solid color though, has to be some art to it. But this is my outlet also. I am following you now and will definitely be checking back with you. Is it okay to post my page links?
